In Mumbai, Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar faction) leader Baba Siddique was killed in a well-planned conspiracy. On Saturday, during the Dussehra celebration, while Siddique was bursting crackers outside his office, three attackers arrived. Among them, Shiv Kumar Gautam fired the shot at Siddique. According to the police, they initially planned to use pepper spray to incapacitate Siddique but resorted to firing before they could use the spray.
A total of six rounds were fired, one of which hit Siddique in the chest, leading to his immediate collapse. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. Police confirmed that along with Shiv Kumar, two other suspects, Gurmail Baljit Singh and Dharam Rajesh Kashyap, attempted to flee but were apprehended. Shiv Kumar remains at large, and the police are actively searching for him.
Mumbai Police clarified that Siddique did not have any category-specific security at the time of the incident. A constable was present but was unable to prevent the attack. The case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.
