Aakhir Tak – In Depth
On Saturday evening during Dussehra celebrations, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead outside his office in Mumbai’s Bandra. The notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder in a viral Facebook post, stating Siddique’s close connections with Bollywood actor Salman Khan and underworld figures, including Dawood Ibrahim, as the main reason.
In the post, a gang member mentioned, “We did what was right, fulfilling the duty of friendship. Salman Khan, you took our brother’s life, now we won’t back down.” The post also highlighted that Siddique’s involvement with criminal elements in Bollywood and real estate contributed to his killing.
Mumbai police confirmed that the murder was a contract killing, with two suspects identified as Gurmail Baljit Singh (23) and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap (19), both arrested. The third accused, Shiv Kumar, is still at large. Police believe the murder was pre-planned, with the suspects receiving payment in advance for the crime.
Salman Khan, who has received multiple death threats over the years, is once again entangled in a major controversy following this incident. In 2023, Khan had received a handwritten threat, warning that he would meet the same fate as singer Sidhu Moose Wala, allegedly killed by the Bishnoi gang.
