Anand Mahindra Shares Fond Memories of Ratan Tata
Industrialist Anand Mahindra recalled one of his most memorable moments with Ratan Tata, who passed away late Wednesday night at the age of 86. Tata was a towering figure in Indian business, known for his visionary leadership and profound impact on the country’s economy.
In a post on X, Mahindra reminisced about an unexpected encounter at the Delhi Auto Expo nearly two decades ago. He reflected on how privileged his generation was to work alongside Tata, who, despite his stature, always remained humble.
“One of my most enjoyable memories of him? At the Auto Expo in Delhi, almost 20 years ago. I was at our company pavilion when we heard a buzz at the entrance. We looked up to see Ratan Tata and his colleagues walking in, unplanned and unexpected. When I went up to greet him, he chuckled and said, ‘I just came in to check out the competition!’ I will miss him greatly,” Mahindra captioned his post.
Earlier in the day, Mahindra had paid tribute to Tata, acknowledging the monumental role he played in shaping modern India’s economic landscape. He stated that Tata’s contributions will be remembered for generations.
Ratan Tata’s body was kept at the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) in Nariman Point, Mumbai, for the public to pay their last respects.
Thousands of mourners, including business magnates like the Ambanis and Union Ministers Amit Shah and Piyush Goyal, gathered to bid farewell to the beloved industrialist.
Though the world lost a visionary, his legacy will continue to shape India’s future for years to come.
