Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that Naxalism will be completely eradicated by March 2026. He appealed to Maoists to abandon violence, surrender their arms, and integrate into mainstream society. Amit Shah noted that the Narendra Modi-led government has already wiped out Naxalism from most parts of the country, with the issue now restricted to only four districts in Chhattisgarh.
Addressing 55 victims of Naxal violence, Shah stated, “We will uproot Naxalism and its ideology from this country, establishing peace. The Modi government has successfully ended Naxalism across India except in four districts of Bastar. We have set March 31, 2026, as the date for the final farewell to Naxalism. I assure you, it will be eliminated even before that date.”
Shah further emphasized the success of security forces in their operations against the Maoists, adding that the threat is now contained in only four districts of Chhattisgarh. He mentioned that the Maoists once had plans to establish a corridor from Pashupatinath in Nepal to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, but that vision was crushed by the Modi government.
The Ministry of Home Affairs will soon draft a welfare scheme for people affected by Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with the state government. Shah stated, “We will support you in every possible way through welfare measures in employment, healthcare, and other areas.”
