A major train tragedy was averted in Ajmer when unidentified assailants placed two cement blocks, each weighing 70 kg, on the railway track. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Sunday when a goods train hit the cement blocks but continued its journey without any damage. Following a complaint by railway employees, the police registered an FIR under the Railway Act and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
Initially, railway employees were informed that a cement block was placed on the track. Upon searching the area, they found the block broken. Subsequently, a second block was discovered further along the track.
The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
On the same day, another major train accident was averted when the Kalindi Express, traveling from Prayagraj to Bhiwani in Haryana, hit an LPG cylinder placed on the track in Kanpur.
The train came to a screeching halt after hitting the cylinder. The loco pilot applied brakes after spotting the cylinder along with suspicious items, including a petrol bottle and matchboxes, on the track.
Kanpur Police have registered an FIR regarding this incident, and six individuals have been detained so far.
Condemning the Kanpur incident, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation is “capable enough to destroy those who hatch conspiracies.”
“This is a matter of concern that some people and organizations, in their greed for power, want the country to witness riots and anarchy. Tough action has been taken against such acts, and strict measures will continue,” Bhatia was quoted by PTI.
These two foiled attempts come less than a month after 20 coaches of the Ahmedabad-bound Sabarmati Express derailed near Govindpuri station in Kanpur after hitting an object placed on the track. All passengers were safely rescued, and no casualties were reported.
