Aakhir Tak – In Depth (English):
In a shocking incident from Ahmedabad, a man named Morris Samuel Christian was arrested for running a fake court by posing as an official arbitrator. He had been settling land disputes and issuing rulings by presenting himself as a court-appointed arbitrator.
According to police reports, Christian fraudulently issued an order in a land dispute case in 2019. This scam came to light when the same case was brought before the Ahmedabad City Civil Court for a proper hearing.
The court’s registrar, Hardik Desai, filed a complaint which led to Christian’s arrest under multiple charges, including impersonation and cheating. Initial investigations revealed that Christian had been carrying out these fraudulent activities for at least five years.
Christian’s modus operandi was to target individuals involved in land disputes, promising to resolve their cases. He used his office in Gandhinagar, set up to look like a legitimate courtroom, where he would conduct fake hearings and pass favorable orders as an arbitrator.
To make the proceedings appear genuine, Christian had accomplices who posed as court staff or lawyers, further deceiving his clients into believing the proceedings were real.
