Aakhir Tak – In Depth
The AAP dismissed the exit poll results, which predicted a BJP return in Delhi after 27 years, while asserting that Arvind Kejriwal would become the Chief Minister for a fourth consecutive time. Reena Gupta, AAP’s national spokesperson, said that previous exit polls had also “underestimated” the party, but it stood to nearly sweep the elections in 2015 and 2020. This AAP claim goes against most predictions.
“You look at any exit poll, whether in 2013, 2015 or 2020, the AAP was always shown getting a smaller number of seats. But it got a greater number of seats in the actual results,” Gupta told PTI. The party is confident that Arvind Kejriwal will lead them to victory again.
A majority of exit polls predicted a thumping win for the BJP in the Delhi elections, while two — Mind Brink and WeePreside — suggested a third straight term for the Kejriwal-led party. While Mind Brink forecast 44–49 seats for AAP, WeePreside has given anywhere between 46–52 seats. The final Delhi election results will be decisive.
Reena Gupta stated that AAP has strong grassroots support and they firmly believe that people will choose Arvind Kejriwal again. She also mentioned that the AAP government has done significant work for the people of Delhi in recent years, and people will reward them for it. AAP does not have faith in the exit poll data.
The AAP claim that they will continue to work for the people of Delhi, no matter what. They said that their party is committed to making Delhi a better place. The party has complete faith in the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal.
