Aakhir Tak – In Depth
A crucial meeting of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators and all 70 candidates took place at party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi. The meeting was convened amid fears of “Operation Lotus,” referring to alleged attempts to poach AAP candidates. Discussions centered around accusations that the BJP is attempting to lure AAP candidates into joining their party. The AAP leadership aims to maintain unity.
The meeting concluded around 12:45 pm. Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that the BJP is a party of leaders who engage in hurling abuses. “All their abuses will stop once the results are out tomorrow,” Sisodia said, expressing confidence in AAP’s victory.
According to sources, several candidates, including Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, Sisodia, and Delhi minister Imran Hussain, among other leaders, gathered at Arvind Kejriwal’s residence at 5, Firoz Shah Road at 11:30 am for the important AAP meeting. The meeting focused on strategies for the upcoming election results.
Ahead of the meeting, AAP MP Sanjay Singh urged reporters to investigate the number from where Delhi minister and AAP candidate Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat received a call on Thursday. Sanjay Singh alleged that the BJP was trying to break AAP candidates.
This development followed Sanjay Singh’s claim that the BJP offered 15 crore rupees to seven of its candidates to defect. AAP leaders have strongly condemned this alleged effort. For context, similar allegations of poaching have surfaced in other states, raising questions about political ethics.
Without naming any candidate, Sanjay Singh said that the AAP candidates were approached by the BJP over the phone on Thursday, a day after the 70-member strong Delhi Assembly went to polls. This was allegedly part of the Operation Lotus strategy.
These allegations emerge as multiple pollsters, including Axis My India and Today’s Chanakya, predict the BJP’s return to the Delhi Assembly after 27 years. Arvind Kejriwal urged party workers to remain united. The Delhi election results are soon to be announced. AAP is focused on strengthening its strategy.
