CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury is currently in a critical condition, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. The party has stated that he is on respiratory support as he undergoes treatment for an acute respiratory tract infection. A multi-disciplinary team of doctors is closely monitoring his health status.
Yechury was admitted to AIIMS’s emergency department on August 19 after experiencing a high fever. According to a source quoted by PTI, he was admitted due to pneumonia, and it was initially reported that the condition was not serious.
The CPI(M) leader recently underwent cataract surgery. His current health condition has raised concerns among party members and the public. Doctors at AIIMS are continuously monitoring him, and every effort is being made to stabilize his condition.
According to the party’s statement, “He is on respiratory support, and a team of doctors is closely watching his condition.” The entire nation is hoping for his speedy recovery as his condition remains critical.
