Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday called on the residents of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) to join India, stating, “We consider you our own, unlike Pakistan which treats you as foreigners.”
Addressing an election rally in Ramban in support of BJP candidate Rakesh Singh Thakur, Singh highlighted the significant changes in Jammu and Kashmir’s security situation since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
Singh said, “The transformation in J&K means that today’s youth carry laptops and computers instead of pistols and revolvers.” He criticized the National Conference-Congress alliance for promising to restore Article 370, calling it impossible under BJP rule.
The Defense Minister expressed confidence that POK residents would choose India over Pakistan upon witnessing the region’s development.
Singh also referred to an affidavit filed by Pakistan’s additional solicitor general, stating POK is considered foreign land by Pakistan. “Pakistan sees you as foreigners, but we Indians see you as our own,” Singh emphasized.
Urging support for the BJP to form the next government in J&K, Singh promised significant development in the region.
Singh also highlighted the recent G20 event in Srinagar, saying the government’s focus on connectivity and infrastructure has turned Kashmir into a tourism hotspot instead of a terrorism hotspot.
Singh’s remarks come as part of BJP’s broader campaign efforts in J&K, aiming to secure a majority in the assembly elections and promising a modern, developed state under BJP leadership.
