Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress released its third list, naming 16 candidates. Among these, former Maharashtra Congress President Manikrao Thakare will contest from Digras constituency. The party had earlier on Saturday announced a second list with 23 candidates, which included sitting MLA Kailash Gorantyal from Jalna and Sunil Kedar’s wife, Anuja, from Saoner constituency.
The third list was finalized following a meeting of the Congress Central Election Committee (CEC), led by President Mallikarjun Kharge. Congress has now declared candidates for 87 seats across Maharashtra, comprising 48 candidates in the first list, 23 in the second, and 16 in the third.
The Maharashtra Assembly election will be held in a single phase on November 20, with results to be announced on November 23. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Congress secured 13 of the 17 seats allocated to it in Maharashtra and aims to continue this momentum in the Assembly polls.
