Aakhir Tak – In Depth:
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made serious allegations against India, claiming that Indian government agents were involved in activities that threaten Canada’s public safety. Trudeau said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has “clear and compelling evidence” showing that Indian agents are involved in intimidating and coercing South Asian Canadians. This revelation follows India’s expulsion of six Canadian diplomats, including Acting High Commissioner Stewart Ross Wheeler.
The diplomatic row between the two nations intensified after Canadian intelligence suggested India’s possible involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau disclosed that multiple attempts were made to engage India in collaboration, but these were rejected. “This is unacceptable,” Trudeau remarked, further stressing that the lack of cooperation from India stalled progress.
Canadian officials recently shared RCMP evidence with Indian authorities, identifying six Indian agents as persons of interest in criminal activities. Despite emphasizing India’s deep business and cultural ties with Canada, Trudeau made it clear that such serious issues cannot be ignored. He added that he had directly spoken to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the matter but had received no constructive response from the Indian side.
The situation has created unease and fear within the Indo-Canadian and Sikh communities. Trudeau assured the public that the safety of Canadian citizens is the government’s top priority and pledged to take necessary actions to address this crisis.
