Kidnapped soldier found dead in J&K, sources say he had bullet wounds
An Indian Army soldier was found dead with bullet injuries after being kidnapped by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Police sources reported on Wednesday that these soldiers belonged to the 161 unit of the Territorial Army and were kidnapped during an anti-terror operation launched on October 8.
According to official sources, one soldier suffered bullet wounds but managed to escape. The second soldier was discovered dead in Anantnag’s Pathribal forest area during a search operation. The injured soldier was rushed to a medical facility, and his condition remains stable. The incident occurred on the day of the counting of votes in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
The Indian Army stated that based on intelligence input, a joint counter-terrorist operation was initiated by the Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police on October 8. Two soldiers were reported missing during this operation.
Earlier in August, two soldiers were killed in an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag. Previously, four Army personnel and a police officer lost their lives in a Doda district encounter with heavily armed terrorists. This attack was claimed by the ‘Kashmir Tigers,’ a proxy group of the Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
