Indian Air Force to Attempt Limca Record with 72 Aircraft at Special Show in Chennai
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to attempt a Limca Book of Records entry on October 6 with a grand air show at Marina Beach in Chennai. This event comes ahead of the IAF’s 92nd Air Force Day celebrations and will showcase the force’s strength and capabilities in front of a large gathering of spectators.
Air Force Day, celebrated on October 8 at Tambaram Air Force Station, will feature the theme “Bharatiya Vayusena: Saksham, Sashakt aur Aatmnirbhar” (Indian Air Force: Potent, Strong, and Self-reliant). The highlight of the celebration will be a grand flypast at Marina Beach, featuring 72 aircraft from 22 categories. Fighter jets like Su-30, MiG-29, and Jaguars will be part of the show, along with helicopters such as the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk4. The Navy’s P8I and the vintage Dakota will also be part of the event, adding a unique touch to the spectacle.
Between 10 to 12 lakh spectators are expected to witness iconic formations like Arrowhead, Trishul, and Rudra, along with thrilling aerobatics performed by the IAF’s Surya Kiran and Sarang teams.
The two-hour-long event will conclude with aerial drills and formations such as Sagar, Akash, and Dhwaj. The celebrations will underline the IAF’s commitment to national security, self-reliance, and modernisation, showcasing India’s growing air defense capabilities.
