NIA Conducts Raids at 11 Locations in Bengal Over Revival of CPI (Maoist)
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has conducted extensive raids at 11 locations across West Bengal, including South 24 Pargana, Asansol, Howrah, Nadia, and Kolkata. These raids are part of an investigation into the alleged revival of the CPI (Maoist) in the Eastern Regional Bureau area.
The raids targeted the homes of suspects, believed to be overground workers of CPI (Maoist), who allegedly assisted the organization’s commanders in conducting Naxalite activities. The NIA seized several incriminating documents, electronic devices, pamphlets, magazines, and handwritten letters during the operation.
This case relates to an alleged conspiracy involving members of the Polit Bureau and Central Committee, as well as sympathizers of the banned organization, aimed at reviving, expanding, and propagating the ideology of the CPI (Maoist) across states like Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh.
So far, six accused individuals have been arrested, including CPI (Maoist) Polit Bureau members Prashant Bose and Pramod Mishra, alongside Central Committee member Sabyasachi Goswami. An FIR was registered in Ranchi in April 2022, naming thirteen top CPI (Maoist) leaders among the accused.
