Russian Jet Flies Dangerously Close to US Fighter Plane Near Alaska, Endangering Airmen
The US military recently released a video showing a Russian fighter jet flying dangerously close to a US F-16 near Alaska during an intercept. The incident, which occurred last week in the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), was deemed unsafe and unprofessional by the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD).
NORAD confirmed that American jets were following standard, disciplined procedures while intercepting the Russian aircraft. However, one Russian Su-35’s maneuver was called unsafe. General Gregory Guillot of the US Air Force shared the video of the incident, calling it a violation of professional conduct that endangered both aircraft.

The video shows the Russian jet turning sharply at high speed, forcing the US fighter to change its flight path to avoid a collision. Reacting to the incident, US Senator Dan Sullivan stated that the Russian jet’s reckless behavior endangered the lives of American airmen and signaled increasing aggression from Russia.
