WTC Final 2025 Dates Announced at Lord’s

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the dates for the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2025. For the first time, this epic showdown will be hosted at Lord’s Stadium, the historic ‘home of cricket’, from June 11 to June 15, 2025, with June 16 set as a reserve day.

This announcement marks a significant moment in cricket, as the WTC final returns to the iconic venue. Previously, the inaugural WTC final in 2021 was planned for Lord’s but was shifted to the Ageas Bowl in Southampton due to the need for a secure bio-bubble during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In the first WTC final, New Zealand clinched the championship by defeating India by eight wickets. The second edition saw Australia beat India by 209 runs at The Oval in London, establishing a fierce rivalry at the WTC summit.

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice expressed his excitement over the final, calling it a marquee event on the cricket calendar. “The ICC World Test Championship Final has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in the cricketing calendar,” Allardice said. He urged fans to register early for tickets, anticipating high demand for the Ultimate Test.

India and Australia, the two top teams on the WTC points table, are once again the favorites to reach the 2025 final. India currently leads the standings with a 68.52% points percentage from six wins out of nine matches. Australia follows closely with a 62.50% points percentage, having won eight out of twelve matches.
