Aakhir Tak – In Depth
The United States is sending an advanced anti-missile system to Israel. This move follows recent missile attacks by Iran. The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery will enhance Israel’s integrated air defense system. Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder stated that this deployment is made to support the defense of Israel and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and Iranian-aligned militias.
President Joe Biden confirmed the system’s deployment to defend Israel. Ryder remarked, “This is part of the broader adjustments the U.S. military has made recently to ensure Israel’s security.” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi responded to this deployment, stating that it puts U.S. troops at risk. He warned that Iran recognizes no red lines in defending its people and interests.
Iran has recently launched multiple missile and drone attacks on Israel. On October 1, Iran fired more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, many of which were intercepted, but some breached missile defenses.
