“Aakhir Tak – In Depth”
In a recent exclusive interview, Uddhav Thackeray launched a sharp critique of BJP’s divisive politics, interpreting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai’ as an indication of BJP’s ambition to rule alone, sidelining regional parties. Thackeray remarked that BJP’s focus on power consolidation has left it with few allies as several parties have exited the NDA.
Shiv Sena’s Split and Allegations Against BJP
Reflecting on Shiv Sena’s split from NDA post-2019, Thackeray said, “Today, BJP has hardly any allies left.” He further added that BJP’s slogan ‘Divided, We Fall’ would likely have no effect in the upcoming Maharashtra elections. Thackeray alleged that “For BJP, it’s all about power.”
No Alliance with BJP
Thackeray was firm on not considering an alliance with BJP in the future. “They troubled my family, my party,” he said. Confident of MVA’s victory, Thackeray pointed out that Maharashtra had rejected BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, a feat he believes could be repeated.
No Dispute Over MVA’s Chief Ministerial Position
Addressing rumors of internal disputes in MVA over the Chief Ministerial candidate, Thackeray clarified, “I only suggested early decision-making to avoid issues faced in past alliances. There’s no rule that the party with the highest seats will claim the post.”
Controversy Over Luggage Checking
Thackeray also addressed the controversy surrounding election officials inspecting his luggage during campaigning. Criticizing BJP, he remarked, “Why was my helicopter stopped? Show us when PM Modi’s chopper was checked.”
Commitment to Probe Corruption
Thackeray also promised to investigate corruption under the current administration should MVA return to power. “We will stop corrupt practices and allocate saved funds to public schemes,” he asserted, referencing the BJP-promoted Ladki Bahin Yojana.
