The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. This series is set to begin on October 6 in Gwalior. Notably, the most significant name included in the squad is Mayank Yadav, who has earned his maiden call-up to represent India due to his outstanding performance.
Yadav troubled batters with his fiery pace during the IPL 2024. Playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Yadav took seven wickets in four matches at an impressive average of 12.14. He announced his arrival in the T20 extravaganza in style, bowling a remarkable spell of 3/27 in his debut match. He followed it up with another excellent performance against RCB, achieving figures of 3/14.
Varun Chakravarthy’s Return
The team also sees the return of Varun Chakravarthy, who is back in the Indian side after nearly three years. Chakravarthy made his international debut during the tour of Sri Lanka in 2021 and was later selected for the T20 World Cup that year, but he could not make a significant impact.
However, after two sensational IPL seasons where he took 20 wickets from 14 matches in 2023 and 21 wickets from 15 matches in 2024, Chakravarthy has secured his place in the team once again.
Wicketkeeper batter Jitesh Sharma is also making a return to the team after last playing against Afghanistan earlier this year. Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was initially called up for the Zimbabwe tour but missed out due to injury, is included in the 15-member squad.
Explosive opener Abhishek Sharma also marks his return after being overlooked for the recent series against Sri Lanka, while Ruturaj Gaikwad continues to be absent.
