Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the United Nations General Assembly on Monday during the “Summit of the Future,” emphasizing the need for global peace and collective strength. He asserted, “The success of humanity lies in our collective strength, not on the battlefield. For global peace and development, reforms in global institutions are necessary. Reform is the key to relevance.”
PM Modi is on a three-day visit to the US, where he held bilateral talks with US President Joe Biden. During these discussions, they reflected on PM Modi’s recent visit to Ukraine and his message of peace. President Biden commended Modi’s visit and praised his message of peace, according to a joint fact sheet released post the meeting.
At the summit, PM Modi also highlighted India’s achievements in alleviating poverty through sustainable development efforts. He remarked, “Today, I stand here to represent the voice of one-sixth of humanity. We have lifted 250 million people out of poverty in India and demonstrated that sustainable development can be successful. We are ready to share this experience with the Global South.”
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of collective efforts in addressing global challenges. He emphasized that without reforms, progress toward peace and development would remain difficult.
India, as a responsible global player, has always been keen to share its experiences and stand with the international community to ensure peace and sustainable development across the globe.
