South Delhi School Evacuated After Receiving Bomb Threat via Email
In a recent development, Summer Fields School in Delhi’s upscale Greater Kailash area was evacuated following a bomb threat received via email. The incident unfolded early Friday morning, and authorities suspect the threat may be a hoax.
Incident Details
At approximately 12:30 AM on Friday, the school received a bomb threat email. However, the email was not reviewed until the school opened later that morning. Upon discovering the email, the school’s administration took immediate action to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Evacuation and Response
Shalini Agarwal, the principal of Summer Fields School, confirmed that students were evacuated within 10 minutes of the email being reviewed. The swift action was in line with standard operating procedures (SOP). The school authorities promptly informed the police and district administration, who arrived at the scene to assist.
“The police and bomb squad responded quickly to our call,” Agarwal stated. “We are grateful for their support. There was no panic among parents, and we are ensuring that the students are safe.”
Investigation Underway
The police have initiated an investigation into the bomb threat. As of now, they suspect that the threat might be a hoax. A case has been registered, and the bomb squad is thoroughly checking the premises to ensure there is no real danger.
Past Incidents
This incident comes on the heels of several similar hoaxes in Delhi. Earlier this year, multiple museums received bomb threats, which were later confirmed to be false. Schools and hospitals in Delhi have also been targeted by such threats, which turned out to be hoaxes.
As the investigation continues, the safety of the students and staff remains the top priority. Authorities are working diligently to resolve the situation and ensure such incidents are addressed promptly. Parents and the community are reassured that the school is taking all necessary precautions to protect their children.
