Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Arvind Sawant, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, recently stirred controversy by referring to Shaina NC as “imported maal,” leading to widespread criticism. Shaina NC condemned the remark, describing it as an insult to women’s dignity and filed a complaint at Nagpada police station. “Does he perceive every woman as ‘maal’? This reflects his mindset and that of his party,” Shaina stated.
Sawant, however, declined to apologize and insisted he never named any woman. “I have never disrespected women in my 55-year political career. This comment was aimed at emphasizing that Amin Patel is a local, while Shaina NC is an outsider,” he explained.
He also alleged that Shaina was instigated to file the complaint and accused the BJP of fabricating the narrative. In response to the controversy, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad expressed his disapproval of Sawant’s remarks. Before joining Shiv Sena, Shaina NC was a BJP member but switched allegiances just hours before the election. The Maharashtra Assembly election is scheduled for November 20, with vote counting on November 23.
