American Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Charged with Sex Trafficking and Racketeering
American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been indicted on serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. According to a federal indictment unsealed on Tuesday, Combs was arrested late Monday in Manhattan after a six-month investigation.
Federal authorities had previously raided his luxurious homes in Los Angeles and Miami as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation. Over the past year, several individuals have accused Combs of physical and sexual abuse, although he has denied many of these allegations. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, stated outside the courthouse that Combs would plead not guilty and would “fight like hell” to secure his client’s release.
Combs, 54, has been a prominent figure in the hip-hop industry, but recent allegations have tarnished his reputation. In November, his ex-girlfriend, Casandra Ventura, better known as Cassie, filed a lawsuit accusing him of years of abuse, including coercing her into unwanted sexual acts.
The lawsuit was settled in just one day, but following the settlement, CNN aired hotel security footage showing Combs physically assaulting Cassie, which sparked further outrage. In response to the footage, Combs issued a public apology, stating, “I was disgusted by my own actions.”
Despite his apology, several other lawsuits have surfaced, including claims from women who accused Combs of similar behavior. One woman alleged that Combs raped her two decades ago when she was only 17, while a music producer also claimed that Combs coerced him into having sex with prostitutes.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, the founder of Bad Boy Records, has faced legal trouble before. In 2001, he was acquitted of charges related to a nightclub shooting in Manhattan, though his then-protégé, Shyne, was convicted and served eight years in prison.
These latest charges of sex trafficking and racketeering have placed Combs at the center of a major legal battle, which could have a lasting impact on his career and personal life.
