Uddhav Thackeray recalls Ratan Tata’s words at Dussehra rally
During a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, on Saturday, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray reminisced about the late Ratan Tata’s remarks regarding the legacy and heritage passed down by Balasaheb Thackeray. Thackeray recalled Tata’s visit to Matoshree, where he had said, “Uddhav, you and I both have a legacy and heritage to uphold. Tata has his father’s legacy, and I have Balasaheb Thackeray’s.”
Thackeray asserted that his faction of Shiv Sena is the true Shiv Sena and that Balasaheb’s name remains with him. Without mentioning Adani by name, he took a subtle dig, stating, “Tata gave salt to the nation, while some are now taking away the salt pans.”
He also criticized the ruling government, holding them responsible for the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Sindhudurg. Following Prime Minister Modi’s apology for the incident, Thackeray remarked, “Modi must understand that Shivaji Maharaj is not an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) to secure votes.”
Thackeray also questioned the RSS, asking whether the current “hybrid BJP” aligns with their values. He further condemned the BJP, likening them to the Kauravas, and said that they should feel ashamed to call themselves “Bharatiya.”
