Helicopter Crash in Pune: Pilot and 2 Engineers Dead
A helicopter crashed in Maharashtra’s Pune district, resulting in the deaths of the pilot and two engineers onboard. The helicopter was heading to Beed, Maharashtra, to pick up NCP leader Sunil Tatkare for a trip to Mumbai.
According to police, the helicopter crashed and caught fire on Wednesday morning. The chopper took off from the Oxford Golf Course helipad in Pune. The incident occurred just five minutes after takeoff. A preliminary report suggested that low visibility may have been a contributing factor.
“The helicopter took off at 7:30 AM from the Oxford Golf Course. The accident occurred just five minutes later due to heavy fog,” stated a senior Pune Police official.
In a similar incident earlier this August, a private helicopter crashed near Paud village in Pune while en route from Mumbai’s Juhu to Hyderabad, injuring four people onboard.
The crashed helicopter was an AW 139 model and was carrying four passengers when the incident occurred. The injured individual, Anand Captain, has been hospitalized at a nearby facility, while the other three passengers, Deer Bhatia, Amardeep Singh, and SP Ram, have been reported in stable condition.
