Tirupati Laddoo Controversy: Jagan Mohan Reddy Dismisses TDP’s Accusations
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly refuted the Telugu Desam Party’s (TDP) accusations regarding the use of animal fats and fish oil in the preparation of the famous Tirupati laddoos. According to Reddy, the ruling party is engaging in “politics in the name of God.”
In a statement, Jagan Mohan Reddy remarked, “Politics is being done in the name of God.” He emphasized that the allegations are false and have no basis in truth. The former Chief Minister pointed out that the lab report being circulated by the TDP is from July, during the tenure of the then-Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu.
He added that after being alerted to the substandard quality of ghee being used at the time, they immediately informed then-CM Naidu. AR Dairy, the supplier responsible for the poor-quality ghee, was held accountable for the incident.
Animal Fat Allegations in Tirupati Laddoos
Earlier this week, a major controversy erupted when N Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous government, led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, of using substandard ingredients, including animal fat and fish oil, in the preparation of laddoos offered at the Tirupati temple.
On September 20, a Gujarat-based livestock laboratory, NDDB CALF Ltd, confirmed that the ghee used to prepare the laddoos did indeed contain animal fats and fish oil. This lab report was shared by TDP spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy.
Speaking on the matter, the TDP spokesperson said, “The lab reports certify that beef tallow, lard, and fish oil were used in the preparation of ghee supplied to the Tirumala temple. Additionally, the S value of the ghee was recorded at just 19.7.”
Jagan Mohan Reddy has firmly denied the allegations, calling them false and unwarranted, labeling the entire controversy unnecessary and politically motivated.
