In response, Israeli intelligence chief David Barnea is expected to travel to Doha for discussions aimed at reigniting negotiations for a potential hostage release agreement. Western leaders have also expressed support for the hostages’ families, urging Israel to increase its diplomatic efforts to secure the captives’ release.
Earlier attempts by Qatar and Egypt to mediate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas have yet to yield a breakthrough. Despite over two months of ongoing diplomatic discussions, a resolution remains elusive, with sources blaming Hamas’s unwillingness to negotiate and pointing to Israel’s resistance as reported by Egyptian and Qatari mediators.
