Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the people of Iran in a video message on Monday, asserting that the Shia nation would soon be free from the “rule of tyrants.” This statement was made in a three-minute video clip released by his office.
Netanyahu stated, “Every day, you see a regime that subjugates you, making fiery speeches about defending Lebanon and Gaza. Yet every day, that regime plunges our region deeper into darkness and deeper into war.”
He added, “Iran’s tyrants don’t care about your future, but you do. When Iran is finally free, and that moment will come a lot sooner than people think, everything will be different. Our two ancient peoples, the Jewish people and the Persian people, will finally be at peace.”
Netanyahu also emphasized that there is nowhere in the Middle East that Israel cannot reach, referencing the ongoing operation by Israeli forces in Lebanon, where Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah, was killed.
“There’s nowhere we will not go to protect our people and protect our country,” Netanyahu declared.
“I know you don’t support the rapists and murderers of Hamas and Hezbollah, but your leaders do. You deserve more. The people of Iran should know Israel stands with you,” he stated.
The assassination of Nasrallah was one of the heaviest blows in decades to both Hezbollah and Iran. He was the most powerful leader in Iran’s ‘Axis of Resistance’ against Israeli and U.S. interests in the Middle East.
On Monday, Israel indicated that a land invasion was an option in Lebanon following two weeks of intensive airstrikes and the elimination of Nasrallah, as the group’s deputy leader stated they were primed for any offensive.
