JD Vance Criticizes Taylor Swift: ‘Disconnected Billionaire’
Republican Senator JD Vance launched a harsh criticism of pop star Taylor Swift a day after she endorsed Kamala Harris for the upcoming U.S. presidential election. Vance labeled Swift as a “disconnected billionaire” who is out of touch with the struggles faced by ordinary Americans.
“We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music or not, will be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and problems of most Americans,” Vance said in an interview with Fox News on Wednesday.
Further intensifying his attack, Vance remarked, “When grocery prices rise by 20%, it hurts most Americans. It doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift.”
His comments came after Swift posted on Instagram to her 283 million followers that she would vote for Kamala Harris, describing Harris as a “warrior” who fights for people’s rights and causes.
In response, Vance dismissed Swift’s endorsement as irrelevant, calling her out of touch with America’s core issues. Former President Donald Trump also criticized Swift, suggesting her endorsement would likely hurt her in the marketplace.
