Aakhir Tak – In Depth
On Japan’s Shinkansen, a unique journey provided passengers with a thrilling ‘zombie’ experience ahead of Halloween. The trip from Tokyo to Osaka included about 40 passengers, who braved the terrifying ride. The event aimed to depict how the usually serene and safe Shinkansen could turn into a nightmare in an instant.
Organized by the group Kowagarasetai, passengers encountered a zombie attack as the train began its journey peacefully. Suddenly, the first gruesome scene unfolded, catching everyone off guard.
Foreign tourist Joshua Payne stated, “I literally felt like I was in the film.” He described the experience as unique and exciting.
The ticket price of 50,000 yen ($335) was deemed worth it by many passengers. A spokesperson from Shinkansen highlighted that such events have opened new possibilities, with concerts and comedy shows possibly coming in the future.
While organizers avoided excessive violence and gore to maintain the Shinkansen’s reputation, the journey featured light-hearted performances by zombie cheerleaders, magicians, and comedians to balance the horror, creating an entertaining atmosphere throughout the trip.
