“Aakhir Tak – In Depth” Segment
India and China have initiated a new patrol strategy along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh, beginning with a successful first round of patrols. Following comprehensive discussions in October, the two countries conducted the first coordinated patrol in Demchok and Depsang. Weekly patrols will now be carried out to maintain peace and address potential issues promptly.
Patrolling Rules
The patrolling operations follow rules established through discussions between local commanders. Each side agreed to take turns with patrols to ensure a fair and peaceful process. Indian and Chinese soldiers alternate their patrols, providing consistent monitoring and preventing misunderstandings.
Progress in Agreement
India and China have also agreed to remove all temporary structures in these areas, focusing on sustaining peace. Patrols have confirmed that both sides adhere strictly to the agreement. Local-level dialogue remains essential, and commanders work together to resolve any arising issues.

On October 31, Indian and Chinese soldiers exchanged sweets to celebrate Diwali, symbolizing mutual respect and camaraderie on the LAC. This gesture contributes to fostering positive relations, crucial for peace in border areas.
