Aakhir Tak – In Depth
The Ahmedabad police have arrested Ramesh Desai, a man accused of murdering his partner, Manish Gupta, 14 years ago. This incident took place in 2010 when both were in a room together. Ramesh stated that Manish had touched him inappropriately, which led to a violent altercation.
During this conflict, Ramesh struck Manish on the head with a brick, rendering him unconscious. He subsequently wrapped Manish’s body in a blanket and buried it under the kitchen floor. For 14 years, Ramesh evaded the police by moving frequently between various locations.
Eventually, police received a tip-off that he planned to travel to Rajasthan. Acting on this information, they apprehended Ramesh in Ahmedabad.
An FIR regarding Manish’s murder was filed by a friend, Hirasingh, at the Vejalpur police station on June 29, 2010. When arrested, Ramesh initially identified himself as Rajnarayan Gurjar, but during intense questioning, he admitted to being Ramesh Desai.
According to DCP Ajit Rajiyan of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, Ramesh attempted to cover up the murder by misleading his friend about Manish’s whereabouts.
The police continue to investigate the case, highlighting the complexities surrounding homosexuality and murder, which have become topics of societal discussion.
