Case Against Aatishi Sparks Political Uproar Before Elections
A major political storm has erupted ahead of the Delhi elections as AAP leader Aatishi was booked for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). AAP leaders have accused the Election Commission and Delhi Police of deliberately targeting opposition voices while ignoring BJP’s violations.
What Led to the Case?
AAP alleged that Aatishi had complained about BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri and his supporters openly violating the MCC. However, instead of taking action against them, Delhi Police registered a case against Aatishi.
According to the police, Aatishi was present with around 60 supporters and 10 vehicles at a public spot late at night. When asked to leave, she allegedly refused, leading to a case being filed against her.
Kejriwal’s Sharp Criticism
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal came down heavily on the Election Commission and Delhi Police, stating, “Whoever speaks against BJP’s hooliganism is being targeted. The police and EC are working to protect BJP while suppressing AAP leaders.”
Police Version
Delhi Police stated that two AAP workers attacked a police officer when he was recording the gathering. They were arrested for obstructing a public servant from performing his duty.
BJP Leader’s Son Also Booked
In response to Aatishi’s complaint, Delhi Police also booked BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s son, Manish Bidhuri, for violating MCC rules during the silence period before the elections.
Political Reactions and Public Outrage
AAP leaders have continued to express their dissatisfaction, alleging that the Election Commission is biased. The controversy has intensified just before the elections, raising questions about the neutrality of the poll body.
