BookMyShow has issued a clarification regarding the ticketing issues for the Coldplay concert, emphasizing that they have worked hard to ensure every fan has a fair chance to secure tickets. A representative stated, “At BookMyShow, we’ve ensured that every fan had a fair chance to secure tickets.”
The Mumbai Police summoned the CEO and a senior team member after concerns arose over the black market sale of tickets. It was noted that 13 million fans logged in during the ticket sale event.
BookMyShow implemented a purchase limit of four tickets per user and provided clear booking guidelines to manage the overwhelming demand. A queueing system was established, causing a brief delay but aimed at minimizing disruption for genuine fans.
The company also announced the addition of a third show in Mumbai due to the unprecedented interest, which received an enthusiastic response from fans.
However, concerns about unauthorized ticket sales were expressed. BookMyShow pointed out that unauthorized platforms, such as Viagogo and Gigsberg, have been listing tickets for the concert.
The company strongly opposes ticket scalping and black marketing, stating that such practices are punishable by law in India. They are cooperating with police authorities to support the investigation.
Consumers were urged to exercise caution, as tickets purchased from unauthorized sources may be invalid or fake.
Coldplay, the British pop band, is set to perform in India after eight years, scheduled for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, in Mumbai. The original ticket prices ranged from Rs 2,500 to Rs 35,000, but reseller tickets were being offered for prices as high as Rs 35,000 to Rs 3 lakh or even more.
