BJP-AJSU Alliance Nears Final Seat-Sharing Agreement for Jharkhand Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) alliance for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections is in its final stage, with a seat-sharing formula expected to be announced soon. According to sources, both parties are close to sealing the deal on how many seats each will contest in the 81-member assembly.
Late last night, an important meeting was held at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. AJSU National President Sudesh Mahto, along with senior BJP leaders from Jharkhand, was in attendance. During the discussions, AJSU reportedly demanded 16 seats as part of the alliance. Both parties are expected to meet again in Delhi in the coming days to finalize the remaining details.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the development on Saturday, stating, “The BJP will contest the Jharkhand elections in alliance with AJSU and JD(U). We have reached a 99 percent agreement on seat sharing with our allies. Discussions on the remaining one or two seats are still underway and will be finalized soon.”
Sarma added that a formal announcement is likely to be made after ‘Pitri Paksha,’ which concludes on October 2, as reported by news agency PTI.
The elections for the 81-member Jharkhand assembly are due later this year, and the BJP-AJSU alliance is expected to play a crucial role in shaping the outcome.
