Biden Opposes Israeli Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites, Urges Proportional Response
U.S. President Joe Biden stated on Wednesday that he does not support strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites in response to its missile attack against Israel. This declaration follows Iran’s launch of over 180 ballistic missiles aimed at Israel, an action Biden previously labeled as “ineffective.”
“We’ll be discussing with the Israelis what they’re going to do, but all seven of us (G7 nations) agree that they have a right to respond, but they should respond proportionally,” Biden told reporters before boarding Air Force One.
Iran’s missile attack on Tuesday prompted strong reactions, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing that Iran would pay for this aggression. Analysts suggest that Israel’s response could be more severe this time, potentially targeting Iran’s nuclear or oil facilities.
Biden also mentioned that additional sanctions on Iran would be implemented, indicating a forthcoming conversation with Netanyahu. “Obviously, Iran is way off course,” he emphasized.
