Bhopal Woman Held Hostage by Husband’s Family Rescued After 16 Years
A woman was rescued in Bhopal after being held hostage by her husband’s family for 16 years. Ranu Sahu was not allowed to meet her family since 2008, according to her father, Kishan Lal Sahu. He stated that Ranu was harassed and isolated from her children.
Shilpa Kaurav, in-charge of Jahangirabad Mahila Thana police station, informed India Today TV/Aaj Tak that Ranu was rescued after a complaint lodged by her father from Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh. Ranu got married in 2006, but her in-laws had not allowed her to meet her family since 2008. Recently, neighbors of Ranu’s in-laws informed Kishan Lal that her condition was deteriorating due to harassment from her husband’s family, prompting him to file a complaint.
Based on the complaint, a team of police personnel, with the help of an NGO, rescued Ranu. She has been admitted to the hospital, and further investigation is ongoing.
