Details of the Incident
According to the victim, she was called to the hotel under the guise of meeting an old acquaintance. Upon reaching the hotel terrace, she was gangraped by four men. Following the assault, the accused robbed her and forced her to leave the hotel. The woman immediately called the emergency number 112 and informed the police. The suspects also threatened her with dire consequences if she ever reported the incident to anyone.

In January, a six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted and murdered at an under-construction site in Bengaluru’s Hoysala Nagar area. In February 2024, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara revealed that Bengaluru reported 444 rape cases between 2021-2023, and the numbers are increasing annually. These statistics indicate a growing trend of crimes against women in the city, requiring immediate attention. The Bengaluru police department is committed to investigating this case thoroughly and ensuring that all the accused are arrested as soon as possible and brought to justice. Steps are being taken to further strengthen the security arrangements in the city to prevent such incidents and ensure a safe environment for women.
