A female employee of HDFC Bank in Lucknow died suddenly, raising concerns about work pressure across the nation. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has blamed the BJP government’s policies for the situation. He stated that this incident symbolizes the “current economic pressure” in the country.
The employee, Sadab Fatima, collapsed during her lunch break and was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital. Initial investigations suggest she may have suffered a heart attack. Fatima was employed at the Vibhuti Khand branch of HDFC Bank and was a resident of Wazir Ganj.
Yadav described the incident as “extremely worrying,” urging all companies and government departments to take this matter seriously. He emphasized, “The real measure of a country’s progress is how mentally free, healthy, and happy a person is.”
He criticized the BJP’s “failed economic policies,” stating that these have led companies to reduce staff while increasing workload to maintain business.
Yadav also commented on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s suggestion that students should learn stress management. He remarked, “The BJP government is as responsible for such sudden deaths as the statements from BJP leaders that demoralize the public.”
Earlier, Anna Sebastian Perayil, an employee of Ernst and Young (E&Y), died in July after complaining of exhaustion due to “extreme work pressure.” An open letter from her mother, which went viral, accused the company of subjecting Anna to excessive work demands.
