Two Army Jawans Kidnapped in Anantnag, One Escapes with Gunshot Wounds
In Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, an Indian Army soldier was kidnapped by terrorists in the early hours of Wednesday, October 9. Senior army officials reported that two soldiers, belonging to the 161 unit of the Territorial Army, were abducted from a forest area during an anti-terror operation launched on October 8. Fortunately, one of the soldiers managed to escape, despite sustaining two gunshot wounds.
The injured soldier was rushed to a medical facility for necessary treatment, and his condition is reported to be stable. Additionally, a massive search operation has been launched in the area to locate the missing soldier.
According to a post on X by the Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, “Based on intelligence input, a joint counter-terrorism operation was launched by the Indian Army along with Jammu and Kashmir Police and other agencies in the Kazwan Forest in Kokernag on October 8. The operation continued overnight as one soldier of the Territorial Army was reported missing.”
