Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, posing five significant questions regarding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its leadership. The central theme of Kejriwal’s letter is a direct critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the political direction of the BJP.
Kejriwal expressed his concern over the current direction of the BJP-led government, warning that if the situation continues unchecked, it could have severe consequences for India’s democracy. “If this continues, our country and democracy will be finished,” Kejriwal stated in his letter to Bhagwat.
Among the five pivotal questions posed by Kejriwal, one focused on whether the RSS’s retirement age limit, which was applied to veteran leaders like LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, also applies to PM Modi, who is currently 73. He further questioned if Modi would step down upon reaching the age of 75.
Referring to an incident from June 2023, Kejriwal pointed out that PM Modi had accused a political leader of corruption, but the same leader later joined the BJP. “Does this not trouble you?” Kejriwal asked Bhagwat.
Another significant concern raised by the AAP chief was the alleged misuse of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to destabilize opposition-led governments and install BJP governments in their place. He asked whether this practice aligns with the values of the RSS.
Kejriwal also cited a statement made by BJP President JP Nadda during the Lok Sabha elections, where Nadda reportedly mentioned that the BJP no longer needs the RSS. Kejriwal asked Bhagwat for his reaction to this statement.
In his letter, Arvind Kejriwal described the RSS as the “mother organization” of the BJP and emphasized that it is the responsibility of the RSS to guide the BJP onto the right path. He sought Bhagwat’s response to the five questions raised in the letter.
