Trump and JD Vance Blame Kamala Harris’s Rhetoric for Assassination Attempt
Former US President Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, have blamed Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden’s divisive rhetoric for inciting a second assassination attempt on Trump. The suspect, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Routh, echoed language used by Harris and Biden, suggesting that Trump poses a threat to American democracy if he wins the upcoming elections and retakes the White House.
Routh, who has been active on social media sharing political opinions, was recently involved in efforts to recruit Afghan support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict with Russia. His motives for the assassination attempt remain unclear, with the FBI probing whether he was dissatisfied with Trump’s stance on Ukraine.
Routh was found hiding with an assault rifle near Trump’s Florida golf course and was spotted by US Secret Service agents. Though they opened fire, Routh managed to flee but was later arrested.
Trump, outraged by the attack, blamed the “Communist Left rhetoric” for encouraging violence. He also criticized the current administration’s immigration policies and called for strict border controls to prevent criminals and mentally ill individuals from entering the US.
JD Vance echoed Trump’s concerns, calling for calmer political rhetoric, citing previous instances of political violence, and warning that the current atmosphere has already endangered lives.
