Haryana Student Killed by Cow Vigilantes

In a tragic incident in Faridabad, Haryana, a 19-year-old Class 12 student, Aryan Mishra, was mistaken for a cattle smuggler and brutally killed by a group of cow vigilantes. The accused, identified as Anil Kaushik, Varun, Krishna, Adesh, and Saurav, chased the victim’s vehicle for 25 kilometers before shooting him. On the night of August 23, Aryan Mishra went out with his friends Harshit and Shanky in a Duster SUV to grab some food. They were accompanied by two women, seated in the back of the car. As they drove through Faridabad, the vigilantes, who were on the lookout for alleged cattle smugglers, spotted their vehicle. The accused, who were already suspicious of a Duster and Fortuner SUV being used by cattle smugglers, signaled Aryan’s car to stop.

However, Harshit, who was driving, mistakenly believed that the group was being chased by someone they had a prior dispute with. As a result, they tried to flee the scene, leading to a high-speed chase that lasted for 25 kilometers. During the chase, the accused vigilantes opened fire on the Duster, hitting Aryan who was seated in the front passenger seat.

After the first shot, which went through the rear window, Harshit stopped the vehicle. However, the attackers approached the car and fired another shot directly into Aryan’s chest, killing him on the spot. The police later arrested the accused, who initially misled investigators by claiming to have disposed of the murder weapon in a canal. However, the weapon was eventually recovered from the residence of one of the accused, Anil Kaushik.
