Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Around 7 am today, three terrorists launched an attack on an Army vehicle in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Following the assault, security forces swiftly cordoned off the area, initiating a thorough search operation. One terrorist has been killed, and the encounter remains ongoing. The incident comes amidst heightened security measures in the Jammu region ahead of the Diwali festival.
This attack is part of a series of recent incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, where 12 people, including two soldiers, have been killed over the past week. On October 24, terrorists ambushed an Army vehicle near Gulmarg in Baramulla, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and two porters. On the same day, a teenager from Uttar Pradesh was injured in a separate incident in Tral, marking the third attack on migrant workers in Kashmir within a week. Earlier, on October 20, terrorists killed seven people, including a doctor and six migrant workers, at a construction site in the Ganderbal district’s Sonamarg. Two days prior, a migrant worker from Bihar was also attacked.
A high-level meeting was convened at the Lieutenant Governor’s residence in Jammu and Kashmir on October 24 to address these escalating incidents. According to officials, an investigation into the Ganderbal attack revealed critical intelligence gaps and undetected infiltration across the Line of Control (LoC) over the past year.
