On Sunday, a suspected terror attack at a bus stop in Tel Aviv, Israel, resulted in one fatality and approximately 40 injuries. The incident took place around 10 a.m. (local time) at a prominent intersection near the Glilot military base when a truck, driven by an Israeli Arab, veered off course, crashing into both a bus and waiting pedestrians.
Israeli police reported that the attacker was shot by an armed civilian following the incident. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals, including Tel Aviv’s Ichilov Medical Center, where one person succumbed to injuries.
Sheba Medical Center treated eight of the injured, including both civilians and soldiers. Shortly after, Iran-backed terror group Hamas released a statement praising the “heroic ramming attack,” though it did not claim responsibility.
The Glilot area is home to Israel’s national intelligence agency Mossad’s headquarters, as well as the Israel Defense Forces’ Unit 8200, known for its cyber intelligence work. Hamas described the incident as a “natural response” to Israeli actions in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem.
