Aakhir Tak – In Depth:
Kamala Harris’s campaign, along with associated Democratic groups, raised approximately $633 million in the last quarter, pushing the total to over $1 billion. This gave Harris a significant financial advantage over Donald Trump as the US election neared.
The Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and state parties collectively raised more than $359 million in September alone. Out of this, Harris’s team contributed $222 million. However, the campaign spent $270 million to support a massive advertising drive across radio, TV, online platforms, and billboards.
According to federal filings, Harris’s campaign and related committees entered October with $346 million in cash reserves. On the other hand, Trump’s campaign and affiliated Republican groups raised $160 million in September, starting October with $283 million in hand.
Harris’s team revealed that 95% of third-quarter donations were under $200, with nearly 6 million donors making over 13.1 million contributions. Notably, 4.3 million of these donors were contributing for the first time in this election cycle.
In late September, Harris raised $55 million in a single weekend during fundraising events in California. One event in Los Angeles, attended by celebrities like Jessica Alba, Lily Tomlin, and Stevie Wonder, raised $28 million. Another event in San Francisco, attended by former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, brought in $27 million.
