At Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi, customs officials seized ₹15.04 crore worth of hydrophobic weed from a woman passenger. The woman was traveling from Bangkok to Paris via Delhi on different flights. Based on specific intelligence, her checked-in baggage was scanned on Sunday, leading to the detection of a narcotic substance.
A customs sniffer dog confirmed the presence of the narcotics, after which the passenger’s bag was opened in her presence. Inside, officers found 15.046 kg of a greenish-brown substance, suspected to be hydrophobic weed. The substance was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
The customs department confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the woman passenger has been detained for further questioning, and investigations are ongoing.
