Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Late Sunday, Hezbollah launched a deadly drone attack on an Israeli army base near Binyamina, resulting in the deaths of 4 Israeli soldiers and over 60 injuries. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Hezbollah’s strike targeted the Golani Brigade stationed near the Lebanese border. This is one of the deadliest incidents since the conflict began in October last year.
Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was in retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon that killed 22 civilians. The group’s late leader, Hassan Nasrallah, had called for members to defend their values and people against Israeli aggression.
The drone strike bypassed Israeli air defense radars, raising questions about the reliability of Israel’s defense systems. While rockets were fired as a diversion, the drones targeted the Golani Brigade’s training camp. The IDF has launched an investigation into how the breach occurred and pledged to enhance its defense capabilities against such threats.
