NASA Astronaut Shares Stunning Timelapse of Green and Red Auroras from Space
NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick recently shared a breathtaking timelapse video of vibrant green and red auroras captured from aboard the Dragon Endeavor spacecraft.
Auroras, also known as polar lights, are natural light displays caused by solar activity interacting with Earth’s atmosphere. Dominick recorded this video on October 8, highlighting the incredible beauty of the auroras from space.

“Red and green auroras appear to dance in a timelapse as we fly by looking out Dragon Endeavor’s window with Dragon Freedom in view,” Dominick wrote in his post on X.
He explained that he captured the phenomenon while looking through the spacecraft’s window, which was docked in front of the International Space Station (ISS). “Peering out of Dragon Endeavor’s window framing red and green auroras streaming by Dragon Freedom docked at the ISS,” he described.
Dominick also shared a glimpse of his life aboard the spacecraft, saying, “When Crew-9 arrived, I moved out of my ISS crew quarters to make room and now sleep in Dragon Endeavor while waiting to undock.”
The stunning visuals left audiences around the world in awe. Some viewers described witnessing such auroras from space as a “mind-blowing experience,” and Dominick’s efforts to capture the perfect shots over several nights earned praise globally.
